Barkley Sound: October 7-9, 2016 with Rendezvous Diving AdventuresAn excellent opportunity in October (when divers often find the best diving conditions) to visit Rendezvous Dive Adventures, nestled in the islands of Barkley Sound on the West Coast of Vancouver Island, BC. Last year divers visiting Rendezvous were lucky to see 6-Gill sharks as early as June with continued sightings through the summer. We are hoping for a repeat on this trip.
TRIP DETAILS Group (maximum 10 divers) would be picked up in Port Alberni, BC, in the afternoon (approx departure 4 pm) on October 7th and taken by boat to the lodge. There is no charge the first night, but guests are asked to bring their own dinners to eat while travelling to the lodge. On the following days breakfast is provided, followed by 2-3 dives (depending on distance and conditions) and lunch on the boat. When whales and other exciting wildlife are observed, there are typically lots of opportunities for photo ops. Divers are usually back to the lodge by mid-afternoon and before dinner people can use the kayaks to roam around in the bay, or sit in the hot tub (or dive off the dock). On the last day (October 9th) divers will go out early and have 2 close-by dives with an hour surface interval then come back to the lodge to pack up gear before returning to Port Alberni and having lunch on board. Divers are usually back to Port Alberni around 3.30 - 4:00 PM. Total cost for two days: $460 plus tax for the weekend. (Gratuity not included, but recommended). Prices include pick up/drop off in Port Alberni, accommodation, 2-3 dives/day (depending on conditions and distance of the sites), airfills, use of cylinders and weights, meals (except on the evening of arrival), coffee/tea, and use of the facilities (kayaks/hot tub/etc). Rendezvous Dive Adventures are unable to provide alcoholic beverages but encourage their guests to bring their favourite beverages with them. Nitrox 32% is available for a fee of C$ 15.00 per cylinder/fill plus tax (3 weeks notice is required before you arrive to coordinate nitrox) payable directly to the operator. Given that we are within 3 months of scheduling this trip, a 50% deposit ($290.50) would be required upon reservation with the remainder to be paid within 1 month of arrival. As they do not know what is going to happen with fuel prices, Rendezvous Dive Adventures must reserve the right to charge a fuel surcharge if prices get ridiculously high. No later than a week before arrival we'll need to know if any guests in the group have food allergies and/or restrictions, which will happily be accommodated for. Register here to ensure we have your contact information for updates about the trip and make a deposit to hold your spot. Galapagos Islands: November 21-28, 2016 aboard the Humboldt ExplorerAn opening in the middle of high season 2016 has come available aboard the Humboltd Explorer: November 21-28, 2016. We will be holding 16 spots and welcome everyone to join us for what is rated one of the top dive trips in the world! Deposits would be needed ASAP to fill this trip to the most spectacular pelagic diving on the planet! The Galapagos is one of those rare places where you can dive through hundreds of hammerhead sharks to find a whale shark cruising along. Toss in silky sharks, sea turtles, giant morays and schooling fish in their thousands… And that’s just the first dive at Darwin! At Wolf Island you can expect huge Galapagos sharks and eagle rays up close whilst dives at Cabo Marshall will put you face to face with giant manta rays and inside a school of millions of black-striped salemas. Mola mola (sunfish) may be seen in the depths too. Macro life is plentiful. Black coral bushes shelter seahorses, blennies, nudibranchs, hawkfish and frogfish. Sea iguanas are a unique sight, along with speedy penguins and playful sea lions. This is but a mere taste of why divers consistently proclaim the Galapagos to have the healthiest marine life in the Pacific. Check out the tentative itinerary here (other options may be available closer to the date)! Not convinced? We have spent lots of time cruising the web watching videos. Click here for one example that best represents all their is to see. Heading to South America in the fall is a great time to go see other areas and attraction with decent weather too! Fly & Sea Dive Adventures will help put together packages for individual or group travel beyond the Galapagos if you are interested. This will be the trip of a lifetime, but as such must be booked well in advance. The Galapagos is one of those rare places where you can dive through hundreds of hammerhead sharks to find a whale shark cruising along. Toss in silky sharks, sea turtles, giant morays and schooling fish in their thousands… And that’s just the first dive at Darwin Island! Trip cost: With the fluctuating US dollar, we have the following prices confirmed for now: The cost of the liveaboard with roundtrip flight from Quito to San Cristobal is priced at $7620CAD. If you haven't booked yet, a deposit of $2250CAD/person is now due to reserve your place. (Note: the $100USD National park fee, plus $150USD fuel surcharge, $55USD chamber support& tourist card are all payable locally.) International flights and hotels in Quito can be arranged on your own, or booked through Fly & Sea Dive Adventures; although consulting with them to coordinate the flights to the Galapagos islands is important. There are several options to consider as add ons to the trip. Tyler and Alisa have chosen to spend an additional 4 nights in the Galapagos Islands with land tours. This touring option cost is $1650USD. The itinerary may change slightly if there is less than 5 people participating. It is possible to arrange a Machu Picchu tour as an alternative to an additional stay on the Galapagos Islands, but please contact Fly & Sea Dive Adventures for options. What is not included in this rate is the current fuel surcharge of $150USD, Nitrox for $150USD, National Park Fee $100USD, Tourist Card $20USD, Chamber Support $35USD, last dinner while on the liveaboard, meals in Quito, airline baggage fees (currently there are still 2 pieces of luggage free of charge to South America, but that could change), Travel Insurance, and Gratuities. At this point a deposit of $2250CAD/person to hold you spot. With the US Dollar value having risen drastically in value over the last 6+ months. It is impossible to predict if the Canadian dollar will fall further, up until the final payment is due (August 10). The rates above are being held until March 31, 2016. After this the trip cost may need to adjust based on the CAD rate.We are able to offer to hold the above rate if you pay the full amount by March 31. If that is not an option for you, we need to let you know that we may need to adjust the CAD rate based on exchange rates. Let us know if you want to join us for this incredible adventure. |

4 Nights of Port Hardy diving aboard the Nautilus Swell: End of April, 2014
TRIP DETAILS
It's true - Jacques Cousteau rated the diving in and around Port Hardy as his #2 choice for diving in the world. It's that awesome. What makes it even more awesome? Going to Port Hardy with Rockfish Divers AND living aboard the Nautilus Swell while you dive some of the most incredible dive sites we've ever been to.
We have a very special opportunity at the end of April, doubled with a very special discount for those who join us for our next Ocean Networks Canada Lecture: Nautilus Tales: Diversity from the Icebergs of Alaska to the Magic of the Socorro Islands by Mike Lever.
START DATE: April 28, 2014 END DATE: May 2, 2014
We will coordinate transportation from Victoria (based on those available for driving), leaving on the morning of April 28th. Upon arriving in Port Hardy, dinner would be on Rockfish Divers prior to boarding the Nautilus Swell at 6pm. As soon as everyone is settled into their staterooms and have been provided a safety briefing to the ship, she'll depart and head towards some of the most spectacular diving you've ever seen. At this point all meals are included with friendly smiles and wonderful service. Once you set-up your gear, the wonderful crew aboard the Swell will take care of everything else.
The best thing about the Nautilus Swell is that she is constantly shifting locations, allowing access to some of the most rare and challenging to reach (and little known) dive sites. There will be three dives a day on April 29th, 30th and May 1st in addition to fabulous scenery, meals, company and more. You can even special order a hot chocolate with peppermint schnapps to be handed to you once the skiff returns to the mother ship after the last dive of each day!
On May 2nd, we'll wake up for an early breakfast before packing up and disembarking prior to the drive home to Victoria (or elsewhere depending where everyone is coming from).
COST
There are several options for accommodation onboard:
Above pricing includes all taxes except USD65pp Port fee payable on board. Gratuity is also highly recommended (you'll appreciate the service you will receive the second your board the ship).
The only other expenses would be any alcoholic drinks you order onboard, Nautilus Swag (shirts, hats, etc.) and towards transportation getting to Port Hardy, BC. We'll arrange carpooling between Victoria and Port Hardy, BC with the understanding that we share fuel and parking costs. For those of you from out of town, we'll happily help coordinate your way to Port Hardy as well with suggestions for flights as needed.
ACCOMMODATIONS
All accommodations are included! You'll be staying aboard the Nautilus Swell for the duration of this trip.
