Private lessons are perfect for people with difficult schedules. In the Private Open Water course we will work with your schedule to create a custom course that works for you and your group. 
​
The PADI Open Water Diver Course offers a lifetime certification to dive to 60 feet/18 meters anywhere in the world. Once you have completed the course you will receive a certification card you can take anywhere in the world as a record of your training experience.

What does it involve?
  • Learning safety precautions and techniques about diving (Theory) 
  • Practicing safety precautions and good diving techniques in the pool.
  • Applying your newly acquired skills to the open water (5 open water ocean dives).
Course Format:
  • Course format includes eLearning (learning theory online from the PADI website - on your own time).
  • 3 to 4 sessions in the pool (skill development and fun time). We could offer a course that has 2 pool/classroom sessions, contact the shop to talk about your options. 
  • 5 local open water dives in the ocean​​  


Open Water Course including Drysuit Certification:
  • The course includes the PADI eLearning Fee, log book, all equipment required and the certification fee.
  • As soon as we receive full payment we will send you the PADI E-learning that you can access anywhere!
  • Our open water diver course includes the drysuit certification! Typically open water courses are only 4 dives however we offer ours with 5 so that you qualify as a PADI drysuit specialty diver. With a drysuit specialty you can travel anywhere around the world and rent a drysuit. All of our staff dive dry and we firmly believe that you should too. Being cold in a wetsuit is no fun and we believe that those who are warm while diving enjoy it more and ultimately dive more after certification.

​Diver Prerequisites: 
  • Must not have answered yes on the diver medical form. Or provide written clearance from Doctor being fit to dive. 
  • Divers 10-14 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and take private lessons. 
  • Must be able to swim 200 meters without stopping and float for 10 minuets.

Once you have completed the open water course, we want to get you out diving.  We offer one free rental with 2 tanks as a bonus to taking your course with us! 
Most people join one of our drop in dives on Sunday mornings, but if you have your own buddy, just call the shop to reserve your equipment!

Who is teaching you? 
  • How much experience do they have teaching in cold water? 
  • How much experience do they have in general?
Our Instructors have thousands of combined certifications! They have worked on nearly every continent!

What is the condition of the dive equipment you use in?
  • Has it got holes in it?
  • How new is it?
  • Is it well maintained?
Rockfish Divers only uses gently used equipment, we replace it every year or 2.
